I'm Julie! Military spouse, property paralegal by day, and mom to three little ones (all under four) pretty much 24/7!
My husband and I met in Quebec, which is where I am originally from (Jonquiere actually!), and we've moved around to Kingston, ON, Oromocto, NB, and now live in the beautiful city of Halifax, NS.
The MilSO Brave Box idea came to me after braving through a really tough season in our military life. I found it extremely challenging to adapt to deployments, postings, and so much time apart that I reached out to my local Military Family Resource Centre for counselling services.
That's where I was encouraged to start journaling about all my feelings and emotions and journaling became the perfect outlet for me. It led to such a better understanding of my feelings and drastically improved my mental health.
That's when I knew I had to include a special journal in the box. A tool for other spouses to express themselves in a safe space that can help process thoughts. It was also important for me to support and encourage other Canadian small businesses and so that's how the idea and concept came to be.
My hope is that this box helps other military spouses going through a hard season, and also bring joy to their doorstep with unique and incredible products!
